Description: Join us for a fun fall hiking weekend at Cardigan Lodge. We hope to offer 2 Saturday hike options, one will be less challenging and the other will likely be the summit of Mt Cardigan.
*If this trip is showing as full, please email kerry_leonard@yahoo.com to be put on a waitlist.
Plan to arrive Friday evening to check in and socialize with the group (dinner will be on your own). We will be staying in 5-person bunk rooms with shared bathrooms. On Saturday morning we will make a group breakfast and then, weather permitting, we will have the option to hike Mt Cardigan and another (less challenging) route with less elevation. In the evening, we will enjoy a group-prepared dinner and hang out at the lodge. Sunday morning, after a group breakfast, we will do a shorter hike. Everyone will head home in the afternoon. Refund info: Because the rooms must be paid for in advance, any cancellation within 30 days will not be refundable, unless another participant is confirmed to take the spot and makes payment. Meeting time and place: Cardigan Lodge, Alexandria, NH on Friday evening. Gear Requirements: These are shoulder-season hikes. Please review the gear list linked below and be sure you have all the required items. · The 10 essentials · Spikes (in case of any early ice or snow) · At least 2 liters of water · Trail Lunches and snacks Physical Fitness Expectations: The Cardigan hike is rated as Moderate by the AMC Rating System . Participants should be comfortable hiking 6 miles with 1900 feet of elevation gain. The pace will be moderate. We will hike as a group and maintain the pace of the slowest hiker in the group. We hope to offer a second, less strenuous, route for participants to choose from, as well. Weather and Contingency Plans: This trip will run rain or shine unless conditions are unsafe (e.g., severe weather). In the event of dangerous conditions, the trip to the Lodge will still happen but the hikes may be altered or cancelled. Registration: Pre-registration is required. Space is limited to 10 participants. Please register early and cancel promptly if you cannot attend, so that others may join. Review the refund info above.
