Description: The great outdoors ... mountains, forests, rivers, and lakes. But what else? What could be hiding in that dense foliage or deep below the water's surface? Well, depending on who you ask... a lot. A lot could be hiding out there. Big Foot, the Loch Ness Monster, Massachusetts's own Puckwudgies. Household names. But have you heard of the Skookum? Olgoi-Khorkhoi? How about the Beast of Gevaudan? Cryptozoology purports to study organisms whose existence is merely suggested. Glimpses, sightings, a story around the campfire, but not yet any hard proof. There are cryptozoologists emphasizing hard science, those who look deep into history, and a fair few credulous believers ready to rubber stamp every potential hoax that crosses their path. Join us for a primer on CRYTOZOOLOGY, the study of the unknown animal, why we'll probably never have answers, and why we won't stop asking questions.
Our speaker, Rob Gonzalez, is a folklore aficionado and skeptic enthusiast. Rob is also a Master Leader with the AMC and can be found leading off-kilter, experimental activities under the banner of TRAIL CULT. If you've ever wanted to meet someone who accidentally got trapped at a Big Foot conference, well now you can.
Bring something to share - appetizer, entree, dessert, or beverage. Doors open at 6:30, dinner at 7:00, speaker shortly after.
Location: Northboro Historical Society, 52 Main St. (Rt. 20) - parking lot on School Street.
Registration on this page is optional. All are welcome: members, non-members, families, visitors, and guests. If you're interested in a brief intro to the AMC and the Worcester Chapter at 6:30, send an email to membership@amcworcester.org .
