Description: Join us for a 4-mile out-and-back winter hike to the scenic Crow Hills Ledges in Leominster State Forest. Following sections of the Mid-State Trail, we'll visit several notable landmarks along the way, including Redemption Rock, Glacier Boulder, and the Crow Hills Ledges, a popular destination for local rock climbers.
We'll stop at Redemption Rock for lunch before continuing back along the trail to Crow Hills Ledges. The trail circles the ledges and climbs to the top, where we'll enjoy beautiful views of Mount Wachusett and Upper and Lower Crow Hill Ponds. This route offers a mix of forest trails, interesting historical and geological features, and rewarding vistas.
This is a Track 1 (Beginner to Intermediate) Winter Hike. Preference will be given to participants who attended the Winter Hiking Workshop on 11/14/26.
Regardless of snow conditions, this hike will be conducted as a winter hike. Proper winter hiking footwear, snowshoes, and microspikes are required. We will practice winter hiking skills throughout the day, including snowshoeing and microspike techniques. Please review the Track 1 Gear List before registering.
We will hike at a moderate pace of approximately 1.5-2 mph. The route includes several short but steep climbs, with a total elevation gain of approximately 1,170 feet. Participants should be in good physical condition and have recent hiking experience.
Pets are not permitted on this hike.
