This will be a 5.5-7-mile hike led by Cindi Smith, depending on what length participants prefer. We have the option of hiking the yellow trail in Myakkahatchee (wide, packed-earth and grass) followed by the Prosper Trail loop in Big Slough (many roots, some ups and downs, mostly hard earth but some loose sand). You may want your hiking poles for this one. Do bring plenty of water, sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, bug spray, and a snack. We will take a break about half-way through the hike to enjoy the surroundings, snack, and perhaps take our shoes off for a spell. There is quite a bit of shade on this hike, but we'll be in the sun some too. Park near the brand new restrooms; this is where we'll gather before the hike.
After the hike, retrieve your optional packed lunch from your car to enjoy at the picnic tables in Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park. Pro tip: pack a cold, wet cloth in with your lunch -- oh, so refreshing!
