Paddle the Wisconsin River
Details
Join Jared and the Mad City Paddlers for a paddle down the beautiful Wisconsin River mostly through the Northern Highland American Legion State Forest. This 11.5 mile paddle is mostly slow to swift flatwater punctuated by riffles and occasional boulder dodging with one easy Class I rapid.
Be unloaded and ready to shuttle at the landing on County Highway D at 11am. If you wish to join the 25 minute caravan from the South Trout Lake campground, we will leave promptly at 10am. We will take out at the Fredrich Landing near McNaughton.
This trip is suitable for novices in any length boat. The rapids on this section are probably beyond the skill of true beginners. There is gravel and rocks, so boats with durable materials are best.
We will eat our packed lunches on a sand or gravel bar or at one of the river accessible campsites along the way.
There will be a book your own site camping event at the NHAL South Trout Lake Campground. Feel free to book a site now, especially if you need to bring a camper or RV. There will be space for 5 additional people on my site. View the event and RSVP on the Madison Area Outdoor Group Meetup. You will need a one-time $5 membership.
