Semi-Final Round - 2025 San Diego Piano Competition for Outstanding Amateurs

Excitement is building!

This is the second round of the 2025 San Diego Piano Competition and Festival for Outstanding Amateurs hosted by AmateurPianists. AmateurPianists believes in making piano music accessible to everyone so all the events during the entire 3 days are FREE to the audience. So come and enjoy amazing piano music!

Out of the 30 pianists who performed in the Preliminary Round, 12 will be selected to continue on to this Semi-Final Round. Each of the 12 pianists will play a 15-minute repertoire, based on their own selection of music, which will be published in the program booklet available to all.

Please register for this Semi-Final Round with your RSVP to this event. This will help us monitor the number of people in the audience.

Starting at 10:00 am, 6 pianists will perform. There will be a 1-hour lunch break, followed by another 6 pianists. There will be no other breaks. (Reminder: Please enter and exit quietly between pieces.)

The jury will select 6 pianists to move on to the Final Round and the names of the Finalists will be posted at 6:00 pm PDT on June 28, 2025. See how your favorite picks compare to the Jury's selections!

Awards for this competition are as follows: 1st prize ($2,000), 2nd prize ($1,000), 3rd prize ($500), gifts for the Best Baroque Period, Best Classical Period, Best Romantic Period, Best Modern Period and the Spirit of the Competition Award ($250).
