Camping and Board Games on the RIM!

Join us for a long Juneteenth weekend of camping and board gaming on the Rim, north of Payson, Arizona! This trip is designed for people who already enjoy light-to-medium board games and want to spend a good chunk of the weekend playing them. Camping experience is a big plus, but not required.

Last year was a blast, and we learned a lot about what works best for a trip like this. One big takeaway: this event is at its best when it is focused on one type of gamer, rather than trying to be a fit for every type of player. So while we love making gaming welcoming and inclusive, this particular trip is probably not the best fit for total beginners, very casual players, or people mainly looking for only light party games. We do play light games, but our focus is on medium board games like The Crew, Pandemic, Project L, Letter Jam, Clank, Power Grid, and Quacks & Co. just to name a few. If you already consider yourself a gamer, you are in the right place.

If you want to do some non-gaming things too, that's fine. We've even gathered some ideas for you here.

Details:
We will head north on Thursday, June 18th to camp on the Mogollon Rim (not the Grand Canyon). The plan is to initially gather together 15 miles north of Payson, at the Ponderosa Store in Pine, AZ right off 260 (6112 Hardscrabble Mesa Rd, Pine, AZ 85544) by 1:00 PM. Please plan to arrive on time. This worked really well last year and gives everyone a chance to grab last-minute supplies, ice, and a bathroom break before heading out. From there, we'll caravan to a dispersed camping area about 45 minutes away.

You are welcome to join us for part of the trip or the full 4 days. If you want to come up separately, you’ll be responsible for finding the campsite yourself, though we’ll provide plenty of information and coordinates to help you find us.

Because this is dispersed camping, we will not know the exact campsite until we get up there. Once we have the spot, we will post a pin in the event description and send it out directly to everyone who registers and pays. Everyone is required to share a cell phone number and email address so we can make sure you get the final location details the day of.

This is dispersed camping, so there are no restrooms, showers, running water, or electricity. We have good solutions for all of it, but if dispersed caming isn't for you we understand. We will
be having group meals for breakfasts and dinners, everyone is one their own for lunch, snacks, and beverages. Participation in group meals is optional.

We will send the group meal details within a questionaire, that all campers need to submit. That questionaire and payment are due 2 weeks before the trip begins. The payment due includes a MANDATORY $20 fee per person to help with incidentals (bathroom supplies, propane, firewood, first aid kit, etc) PLUS a charge for the group meals you're joining in. If you're eating all five group meals, that added amount is $30.
