✨🌌Diné (Navajo) Star Knowledge & Storytelling by the River 🌿🔥
An Indigenous Medicine Way Gathering Under the Stars

Join us for another sacred evening under the stars at Box Bar Recreational Site, where community, cosmos, and culture meet along the Rio Verde River. On Saturday, January 17th, we gather from 4:00p until 9:00p to share warmth, wonder, and connection through Navajo astronomy, storytelling, music, and presence.

🌠 What to Expect
As daylight fades, we’ll settle into the rhythms of the land—beginning with gentle gathering, warm drinks, and grounding by the river. As night falls, we’ll turn our eyes skyward and explore Diné (Navajo) ways of knowing the stars, where the constellations are not distant objects but living stories.

You’ll hear teachings connected to Gah Hahat’ee (Rabbit Tracks) and Na’ashjé’ii Asdzáá (Spider Woman), reminding us of balance, responsibility, and our relationship to time, land, and one another. From a Medicine Way perspective, storytelling supports nervous system regulation, meaning-making, and communal bonding—ancient practices now echoed in modern psychology and trauma-informed care.

🔥 Fire, Music & Community
We’ll gather around a small fire for stories, shared reflection, and gentle music. Bring an instrument if you feel called, or simply listen as sound, river, and silence weave together. Hot chocolate and tea will be provided to keep us warm as the stars emerge. ☕🍫

🪶 What to Bring

  • A chair or blanket for comfort
  • Warm layers (desert evenings get cold after sunset)
  • A musical instrument or song (optional) 🎶
  • Water and personal snacks if needed
  • A flashlight or headlamp 🔦
  • Curiosity, respect, and an open heart

🌿 How to Prepare

  • This is an outdoor, rustic setting with limited lighting
  • Please arrive with enough daylight to settle in safely
  • A Tonto National Park Pass is required to park for the evening
  • Family and pet friendly (pets must be leashed)

📍 Location: Box Bar Recreational Site (Rio Verde area)
📅 Date: Saturday, January 17th
⏰ Time: 4:00 PM – ~9:00 PM

This gathering honors Indigenous wisdom while holding a grounded, clinical understanding of how nature, story, sound, and community support regulation, reflection, and healing. Come as you are. Stay as long as you need.

We look forward to sharing the fire and the stars with you. 🌌🪶✨
