What we’re about

Welcome to Sydney Sketch Club!!  A group of friendly people of varying levels of art expertise will provide encouragement, motivation and inspiration for sketching in public.  Meetups are held every weekend (unless we are away on painting trips throughout regional NSW) and one week day.  I try and organise activities near public transport, and we visit many different suburbs.
We usually have 20-30+ people attend the activities.
We meet for 2.5 hours (often drawing in small groups) and then gather for a book throwdown.   The social side of the Club comes from the members who stick around to have lunch together. This is when you can chat with your fellow sketchers and discuss techniques and materials used – sketchbooks are often shared around.
Members can upload their sketches to the SSC meetup site which is a great way to share work.  It is highly recommended that you take time to look at the Photo Albums on the meetup site of previous activities  - you will find such inspiration there.
You will need to supply all your own art supplies.  There is no formal tuition given (except during occasional mini-workshops) but you can certainly "learn from others".
There is a charge of $2 for a casual attendance, used to help defray the monthly charge of meetup.com for the Sydney Sketch Club to be on their site.  Each January annual membership is offered - $20 for unlimited activities throughout the year, as little as 50c for your weekly hobby! ($15 for seniors / concession)
So please get up the courage to attend your first meetup - I am sure you will be hooked - we have a great group of regulars who attend as often as their lives/commitments permit so you are likely to make some nice friends along the way to share your art interest with.
Sydney Sketch Club is a hobby group first and foremost – a group of people with the same creative/interests yet a group of individuals of different ages, different ethnic backgrounds, different outlooks and opinions. In signing up to Meetup.Com a sketcher is bound by their Terms of Service.  The central website lists various policies.

Sydney Sketch Club does not have any other separate policies or restrictions, other than the Disclaimer which is listed at the end of every event invitation.  Simply put, you are each responsible for your own health and safety at any sketch events you choose to attend.  As a volunteer meetup organiser I have no further obligation to members other than any responsibility outlined in the international meetup.com policies.  I have confirmed that I am in no way legally responsible for the actions of any member.
