We are a small, amazing and great group, started in 2015, who enjoy attending a variety of art, culture and other events together. If you'd like to join us, great! Join us at the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens for a rare evening garden stroll, Taiko drum performances by Fushu Daiko, a koto (Japanese harp) concert and a colorful Japanese fashion show hosted by Mirai Con.
We'll meet at 5:15 p.m. on the east side of the main parking lot, where you'll get your name tag. We'll socialize there a bit before going inside as a group. Our first stop will be to see the fashion show in the theater at 5:50 p.m. Later, on the stroll around the lake you can walk with the group or go at your own pace.
For tasty treats, you can choose from a variety of delicious food and drinks, including ramen, yakisoba, sushi, bento boxes, sake, and tempting sweets at the Cornell Cafe as well as from food trucks.
Tickets are $12 + $1.59 service fee for non-members, $5 + $1.24 service fee for members. They must be purchased in advance. Join us for an exciting piano concert in the intimate 160-seat Brandt Black Box Theater at Dreyfoos School of the Arts, one of the country's premier arts magnet high schools. Unlike other shows at Dreyfoos, at this one the students get to choose their songs and do their own renditions of well-known modern pop, rock and jazz. Some will be by soloists and some by a group of up to five or six that may include other instruments. All are music majors. This concert is decidedly nontraditional. Several students will dress up in costumes to match their pieces and many songs are highly stylized.
Tickets are just $17 and must be ordered in advance. I'm handling this for our group. Message me or email me about it. You'll be on the Waitlist until you've paid.
The school is one block north of Kravis Center and there's ample free parking in its fenced-in lot. After the show we can go for refreshments at a nearby restaurant. Our Meetup is sponsored by Walls R Us Painting.
