Write Away Amsterdam: Social Writing Session + Creative Exchange

Got a half-written draft or an idea that won’t leave your head?

Maybe you keep putting it off. Maybe perfectionism or your inner critic keeps getting in the way. Maybe you want to meet other creatives but hate awkward networking, or wish you had people to bounce ideas off.

We have a proven method to fight that.

Create at your own pace in a silent room for full focus or a social room surrounded by other creatives. Afterwards, optionally share your progress and work, pitch an idea and find people who can help you with it, or take the stage in a 5-minute open mic.

Good to Know

• Reserve your free spot: Register through our website at artlounge.nl to reserve your spot. RSVPing on Meetup does not reserve a spot. Walk-ins are welcome if spots remain, but entry isn't guaranteed.
• Join the full event or a part of it: Take part in just the 90-minute writing session, just the creative exchange, or both.
• Want to share, pitch an idea or perform? Register with the organiser through the contact form on our website or in person as soon as possible, as spots are limited.
• Ask before giving feedback: Get permission first. You can always ask if they'd like feedback.
• All skill levels: From first-time writers to experienced writers.
• Dutch & English: Communication is in both, but you can write and perform in any language.
• Ages 16+: Under 16s may attend with organiser approval and a parent or guardian.
• Food & drinks: Coffee, tea, soft drinks & snacks are available for purchase.
• Accessibility: Wheelchair accessible.

Schedule
13:30–14:00 | Doors open
Come in, grab a drink and meet the others. You're welcome to start writing early.

14:00–15:30 | 90-min writing session
Choose a silent room designed to offer a low-stimulation environment, or a social room to write alongside other creatives.

15:30–17:00 | Creative exchange
Share your progress and work, pitch an idea and find people who can help you with it, or take the stage in a 5-minute open mic. Sharing is always optional. Any time left after the creative exchange can be used to socialise.

Photos and videos may be taken during the event for Art Lounge promotional purposes. If you don't want to be photographed or filmed, please let the organiser know.
