What we’re about
INTRODUCTION
Welcome art lovers! We are a group of art enthusiasts who learn about all types of visual fine art from each other. At each monthly virtual Zoom meetup held the second Saturday of each month at 12:00pm, member tell the group about their favorite artists, their favorite works of art, or schools of art they find interesting. We also go to art museums together, art galleries, and art auctions as well as hold additional in person events, some at the lower level meeting room at the Columbia branch of the Seattle Public Library. We try to have at least one in person event that is at a museum or art gallery on the 4th Sunday of each month (if schedules of the venues work out). Additional in person events are scheduled when we can get the meeting room at the Columbia branch of the SPL or we hear about some other interesting art event that is going on.
EMAIL LIST
The active members of the meetup communicate primarily via email so if you would like to share your email so you can be notified of other art related events and information, please feel free to share your email with one of the organizers or leave it in the comments on the Meetup site. You can also email the group organizers at artloverssocialgroup@mailbox.org. If you want to be on the email list, you can also choose to become a part of a second email group where we email each other about other cultural events in addition to visual art such as symphony concerts, films and Moth storytelling events. Also, if you decide to become an active member of the Meetup, we have an account on Box.com where art related information is posted, like great art movies, books, podcasts and recordings of our Zoom meetings.
We are dedicated to making this Meetup kind, positive, open, welcoming and fun! I hope you join us, we have quite a bit going on! We have many members with art history backgrounds and also some members are emerging artists who enjoy sharing their knowledge with the rest of us, who love to learn more about art. Our goal is to make everyone feel comfortable whether they have quite a bit about knowledge of art or not. We have had presentations on our virtual Zoom calls about Finnish art, Western art, the Hudson River school, Abstract art, Daoism and much more.
