Anyone who comes to a specific monthly meetup can talk about their favorite work of art or a piece of art relating to the topic chosen for that month. You can share your screen, showing everyone pictures of art works and tell us about the artist, the history of the piece, techniques utilized or the school or time period of the piece of art. For example, one person showed the group and described how Monet painted the same bridge in France many different ways. Also, what influenced Monet as the changes he made.

During the pandemic, we will be meeting virtually each month on the second Saturday at noon.

The Zoom info is:
GO TO ZOOM.US, CLICK ON JOIN A MEETING AND ENTER THE MEETING NUMBER 852 9442 7493 and PASSCODE 652507.

The link is also below but it is not completely reliable if you have not RSVP'd so it is suggested you use the directions above.

Topic for January
The topic for January will be abstract and modern art: it's meaning, why does it appeal to you (or doesn't), is it interesting or why did the artist paint, sculpt or design it. This could be a building, a painting, a mural, sculpture, mixed media, a work in textile art or anything you would like to choose. Do you like abstract or modern art, why or why not?

We learn quite a bit from each others' presentations. Each person who comes does not have to give a presentation. To keep the Meetup under 2 hours, we would like to have less than 10 people giving presentations.

Also, if you want to attend and are willing, we do exchange email addresses to facilitate communication as the Meetup site is not completely reliable. Exchanging email addresses also helps when the pandemic is over so we can organize groups to go to art museums, galleries and art auctions in the area.

**********
I have deleted the requirement of a maximum of 10 attendees for each monthly Meetup after considering input from Meetup members.

This meetup is a reincarnation of a previous Meetup that had been active for many years. The previous organizer needed to step down so I took over, and I had to start a new Meetup, but I kept all the details of the meetup identical including the name. We did have over 2,000 members in the previous meetup but less than 10 regularly active participants at each monthly meeting. My hope is to make this meetup interesting, considerate and positive, and include a group of people that are passionate about art. While the group does not have to be large, if we have a meetup that continues to grow slowly, we may be able to find friends that we can attend gallery openings, museum exhibitions and art auctions with once the pandemic lockdown is over.

We have wonderful members who have a deep knowledge of art and give very interesting presentations so it will not surprise me if the meetup continues to grow. I will likely send a message to each person who sends in a Yes RSVP to the monthly meetup a few days before the meetup to confirm if they still plan on attending the meetup and would like to be a presenter.

I appreciate and welcome input from any member so we can make this meetup exceptional. Hope to see you at future events!
