### 🎖️ A Hidden Gem of New York History

The Park Avenue Armory, also known as the 7th Regiment Armory, is a historic treasure located on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Designed in the Gothic Revival style by architect Charles Clinton for the 7th New York Militia Regiment, the Armory was completed in 1880, with two later expansions in the early 20th century. Designated both a New York City Landmark and a National Historic Landmark, the Armory occupies an entire city block from Park Avenue to Lexington Avenue, between 66th and 67th Streets. It consists of two primary structures: a five-story administration building and the vast Wade Thompson Drill Hall, one of New York’s largest column-free indoor spaces when it was built.
Inside, you’ll find an extraordinary array of period interiors — designed by masters such as Louis Comfort Tiffany, Stanford White, Herter Brothers, Alexander Roux, and Candace Wheeler. These spaces, from ornate company rooms to opulent staircases, represent some of the finest surviving examples of late 19th-century decorative arts in America. Since 2006, the building has been operated by the Park Avenue Armory Conservancy, which oversees its ongoing restoration and transformation into a major cultural destination.

### 🏰 WHAT WE ARE GOING TO SEE

We will step inside a landmarked architectural masterpiece — a cultural destination where history, architecture, and contemporary art converge.

Our walking tour will cover:

First Floor Period Rooms, including the Board of Officers Room and Veterans Room, filled with stunning craftsmanship and design details.
✨ The soaring 55,000-square-foot Wade Thompson Drill Hall, once used for military drills, now a breathtaking performance and exhibition space.
✨ Select Second Floor areas not normally open to the public, offering rare glimpses into the building’s original regimental life.
The tour will explore the Armory’s restoration and renovation under acclaimed architects Herzog & de Meuron, its transformation into a leading arts institution, and the stories of the historic craftsmen — Tiffany, White, Herter Brothers, Wheeler, and others — who shaped its legacy.
This is a journey through time, from New York’s opulent Gilded Age to the city’s vibrant present — a perfect blend of architectural grandeur, history, and art.
