For our Labor Day weekend, we're heading to one of the world's greatest museums of modern art for an afternoon built around two completely different special exhibitions—followed by an optional visit to some of the most famous masterpieces in MoMA's extraordinary collection!
And we're beginning with two names that certainly need no introduction:

## 🌺 FRIDA KAHLO & DIEGO RIVERA

Artists. Revolutionaries. Husband and wife.
Their extraordinary and often tumultuous relationship became nearly as famous as their art.
Now MoMA brings their worlds together in:

# FRIDA AND DIEGO: THE LAST DREAM

And our timing is particularly good—the exhibition is nearing the end of its run and closes September 12!
Created as a first-of-its-kind collaboration between The Museum of Modern Art and the Metropolitan Opera, the exhibition brings together six paintings and a drawing by Frida Kahlo, more than a dozen works by Diego Rivera, and photographic portraits of the artists, all presented within a theatrical environment created by designer Jon Bausor.
This isn't simply an exhibition of paintings.
It's a fascinating look at two remarkable artists, Mexican art and identity, politics, creativity, love—and one of the most complicated relationships in 20th-century art.

This event is not a private docent-led tour.
Instead, we'll be experiencing MoMA together through a structured self-guided visit with specific time parameters for each exhibition.
I will be helping to coordinate our group throughout the afternoon.
Within each exhibition, members will be free to explore independently, spend time with the works that interest them most, and enjoy the exhibition at their own pace.
However, we will have a specific one-hour period for each of our two featured exhibitions, and everyone should be mindful of our scheduled transition time so that we can regroup and move together to our next destination.
This gives us the best of both worlds:

Our afternoon begins with the exhibition that inspired this special MoMA visit.
We'll have a full hour to explore Frida and Diego: The Last Dream.
You'll be able to move independently through the exhibition, taking your time with the works and displays that interest you most.
But please keep an eye on the time!

### At 2:00 PM, we'll regroup and make our way together to MoMA's Lower Level for an entirely different experience.

# IT'S ALIVE! A CENTURY OF ANIMATION FROM THE COLLECTION

📍 LOWER LEVEL (LL) — T2/T1
Now we're going from Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera to something completely different!
It's Alive! A Century of Animation from the Collection is MoMA's sweeping exploration of more than 100 years of animation.
The exhibition includes more than 200 works of production art and film, tracing animation from some of its earliest pioneers through generations of experimentation and innovation.
We'll encounter material connected to early animation icons such as Gertie the Dinosaur, Koko the Clown and Felix the Cat, along with later artists and filmmakers who continued transforming the possibilities of the animated image.
We'll have another full hour—from 2:00 until 3:00 PM—to explore this exhibition.

### At approximately 3:00 PM, our principal Social Club event officially concludes.

But...
You certainly don't have to leave MoMA!
Because for those who want to continue, there's one more stop—and it's a VERY good one.

# THE MASTERPIECES OF MoMA

## COLLECTION 1880s–1950s

📍 FLOOR 5 — 500 GALLERIES
For members who would like to continue with me after our two featured exhibitions, we'll head upstairs to Floor 5 for an optional additional hour exploring the historic heart of MoMA's collection.
And now we're talking about some of the giants of modern art:

### 🎨 Pablo Picasso

### 🎨 Marc Chagall

### 🎨 Henri Matisse

### 🎨 Claude Monet

And that's just to name a few!
MoMA's fifth-floor collection galleries cover the transformative period from the 1880s through the 1950s, bringing together many of the artists and movements that completely changed the direction of Western art.
This is where we'll have an opportunity to see works by some of the most recognizable names in the history of modern art.
And, of course, MoMA is home to one painting that has become an icon in its own right:

## 🌌 Vincent van Gogh's The Starry Night

Along with masterpieces by Picasso, Matisse, Monet, Chagall, Seurat and many others, it makes Floor 5 almost a museum unto itself.

### This final hour is completely OPTIONAL.

If you've had your fill of art after our two featured exhibitions, your Social Club event concludes at approximately 3:00 PM.
If you're still going strong, come upstairs with me!
We'll spend approximately 3:00–4:00 PM exploring the 500 Galleries and some of the masterpieces that have made MoMA one of the world's great museums.

MoMA's published group admission prices are:

Regular adult admission is currently $30, so our requested group rate provides members with a discount while allowing us to enter as an organized Social Club group. MoMA's adult group program accommodates groups of 10–50 visitors and provides a dedicated arrival time and expedited check-in.

I will be at MoMA's special Groups & Tours Entrance at 18 West 54th Street, between Fifth and Sixth Avenues, to greet our members and help coordinate our group arrival.
I recommend using this entrance, as it is specifically designated for groups and allows us to avoid the normal entrance line.
However, if it is more convenient, you may also enter through MoMA's Main Museum Entrance on West 53rd Street. If you use the Main Entrance, please proceed to the waiting area immediately to the left of the entrance, near the ticket kiosks, where our group can gather.
