About the film
In the summer of 1939, with World War II looming, 30-year-old single mother Sally Bauer (Josefin Neldén) is determined to become the first Scandinavian to swim across the English Channel. Confronted with societal and familial pressures, including a threat to take away her beloved son, she courageously defies conventions to pursue her dreams.
Run Time 120 min.
"The Swedish Torpedo makes a strong case as a sports film and acting showcase. Kempff navigates the shifting genres, proving effective at creating imagery outside of her success in documentary and horror. However, a few missteps stop this from reaching the upper echelon of sports films. That said, it’s a very good film about a woman history has erased. These are the kinds of sports films we need."
