Uruguayan Film and Reception at AFI Latin American Film Festival

Details
A Loose End (A Cabo Suelto) looks like a fun film with a post-screening reception sponsored by the Embassy of Uruguay that will be great for socializing. You can buy tickets here. (Another film the day before caught my eye, from Mexico - Corina - also with a reception.)
Special Features: Centerpiece Screening | North American Premiere |
In this comic caper from Uruguayan filmmaker Daniel Hendler (THE MONEYCHANGER), Santiago, a corporal in Argentina’s police force, flees from his fellow officers to Uruguay. There, donning his now-frayed uniform, Santiago ekes out a living posing as a food inspector, sampling the dairy products and sausages from the regional food halls to survive while keeping his true identity a secret. The kindness of the strangers around him — including a woman who may prove to be the love of his life — further nourish Santiago, giving him hope for a new life in this charming and gentle film about community, connections and cheese.
Official Selection, 2025 Venice and San Sebastián film festivals. DIR/SCR Daniel Hendler; PROD Micaela Solé. Uruguay/Argentina/Spain, 2025, color, 95 min. In Spanish with English subtitles. NOT RATED
Run Time: 95 Minutes
