Artistic Artifacts (https://www.artisticartifacts.com) at 4750 Eisenhower Avenue in Alexandria, VA is the source for the latest “creative finds for creative minds” — no matter your medium, you'll find products, and techniques for your fiber and mixed media projects. Paid classes/workshops with talented instructors and special events are scheduled on a regular basis, and our shop is also home to the monthly meetings of Judy’s Altered Minds (JAMs), a free altered art group open to all who are interested. We’re an authorized BERNINA dealer and carry a full line of WonderFil Specialty Threads as well as a full range of fabrics and art supplies. Ryan’s Case for Smiles Charity Sew

11:00 am – 3:00 pm — stop by and enjoy a sewing break!Visit Artistic Artifacts on July 19 to try out our BERNINA sewing machines and use one of our provided fabric kits to create a colorful pillowcase, which will be donated to Ryan’s Case for Smiles for distribution to Children's National Hospital in DC and Inova L.J. Murphy Children's Hospital in Falls Church. Drop in from 11:00 am - 3:00 pm and enjoy a sewing break as you brighten a child’s hospital room!
Ryan’s Case for Smiles is a national nonprofit dedicated to helping kids feel better to heal better by providing whimsical, kid-themed pillowcases to children in the hospital.
Want to make more? Bring your own sewing machine and fun, cheerful print fabric to settle into our classroom and create multiples to donate — a fun activity with a friend too! **Learn more about the fabric requirements for donated pillowcases **set by Ryan's Case for Smiles.

Join us for Judy’s Altered Minds! Bring your fiber & mixed media show & tell; many members also enjoy making ATCs (artist trading cards) for exchange each month. Come early to shop (JAMs attendees receive a 10% discount on their purchases) — Artistic Artifacts is open 11:00 am - 4:00 pm. The JAMs meeting starts at 1:30 pm. New members are always welcome! A $3.00 contribution is requested at each meeting.
JAMs members are art quilters, collage artists, art journal keepers, surface design enthusiasts, paper crafters, art doll/assemblage artists and more! All levels of expertise are represented, and all are welcome. During JAMs meetings, attendees gather support and encouragement for their art through show & tell and enjoy the camaraderie of like-minded friends.

Wax / Threads / Roots — A Batik Experience at Artistic Artifacts — Hosted by Babaran Segaragunung Culture House
Join internationally recognized batik artists Brahma Tirta Sari for a rare two-day workshop exploring the wax resist technique of batik! Participants will explore how batik not only a technique, but an intangible creative process rooted in ancestral knowledge. Facilitated by Nia Fliam and Desmond Anabrang Fliam-Ismoyo, during this immersive workshop, participants will engage with the philosophies, methods, and technical practices of batik as it has been taught in residencies across Indonesia, Australia, Africa, and North America. Day One offers you an introduction: Learn the foundations of batik using wax-resist dyeing with natural dyes, exploring traditional motifs and design elements. o the material, tools, and basic philosophy that guide this artistic tradition. Day Two will dive deeper into the cultural and philosophical underpinnings of batik.
