“My definition of collage is taking individual elements that were not meant to be together and joining them into a cohesive whole that tells a story,” says Seth. “In this one-day workshop, we will take a less-is-more approach to create a painted background and a more-is-more approach to blend and layer fragments of paper and fabric. These elements will literally be tied together with hand stitching. An emphasis will be placed on developing an intuitive composition, creating texture within the layers, and leaning into our own personal styles and stories.”

- Made to Measure with Seth Apter — Just a few seats remain: register now!Artistic Artifacts, Alexandria, VA
“In this one-day workshop, we will be working in a journal that will serve as a basis for a made to measure, fabric swatch book,” says Seth. “Imagine an updated version of an old school, vintage fabric sampler that was used to highlight collections of fabric in days gone by. We will start by creating mixed media backgrounds. Each book, page by page, will then be filled with a unique combination of fabric pieces, layout, design, and text. In the end, each attendee will have a completely one-of-a-kind journal — made to measure.”
