About us
Arts & Rec Toronto is a laid-back creative hangout where people draw together, play games like gartic phone, watch movies, and occasionally meet up in person. Most of our hangouts happen online, with members joining from both Canada and the U.S.
Started in downtown Toronto in 2014, the group has grown into a fun, low-pressure space to create and unwind together.
Later this year, we plan to move off Meetup and onto Discord (and we may also set up an email list for anyone who doesn’t use Discord).

Online Life Drawing
·OnlineOnlineThis event is a great way to just relax, draw the human body and work quietly on our craft OR socialize with other artists. Sometimes we can be a bit chatty :)!
We'll start with 1 quick warm up video to loosen up our hand, and then move to 2 - 20mins long pose which will last throughout the event. This is really good for people who want to expand their figure drawing into a more detailed-focused study.

This is a social and friendly group so we kindly ask you to turn on your camera, we're all trying to get past being complete strangers here. If you don't have it turned on after being asked, you will be removed from the session.
Never drawn people before? Or barely any experience with it? Please watch this video before the event so you can have an idea how to approach drawing

Sketching Hangout... New Location
Table Food Hall/Fare & Social (CIBC square, 4th Floor), 81 Bay St. Toronto, ON M5J 0E7, 4th Floor, Toronto, ON, CAHi everyone!
We're doing an afternoon sketch hangout at CIBC food court.
First time meeting us and still not sure about the vibe? Check out photos from past in-person events of 2025
Bring your own art supplies (mainly dry medium or small watercolour set), and if you feel like it, order a drink and snacks.
Where to meet exactly?
From Union, you can either follow the signs to go straight to CIBC square one or get to ground level and walk along Bay street till you reach you see the CIBC square one building. Enter the CIBC building on either side of the train tracks and travel up to the fourth floor food court. I'll be at the tables at the far end of the food court by the windows.

Indoor Draw & Sketch Hangout
MaRS Discovery District, 101 College Street M5G 1L7, Toronto, ON, CAHi everyone!
We're doing an afternoon sketching hangout at the MaRS Discovery building food court.
Pull up with some snacks or a drink and get to know local artists of Toronto.

Please bring your art supplies. Digital tablet, dry mediums, watercolour set, really anything that doesn't smell and is non toxic and easy to clean up. Please be considerate and leave the space as clean as it was before.

This is a group to make art while making friends NOT a singles mixer so please be respectful of others. If you have any concerns don't hesitate to message me or bring this to my attention.How to get there? Take the TTC to Queens Park subway station on line 1.
Where to meet exactly?
MaRs food court below ground level. Enter MaRS Building through Collage and Spadina entrance past the seated statues and through the doors. (This is the only entrance to get into the building on the weekends without a fob) We meet by the food court tables at the far end, opposite to the escalators.
