From Research to End-User - How to bring them closer?

Details

Hi all,

We need food sponsors! Anyone that is willing to provide us some feed would be great, please contact myself or Deb

Event Brief

We will be having 3 speakers to present the below subtopic - on ways to make these process steps faster, better, cheaper:

  • gathering user needs and conceptualising it into a product

  • translating research to product

  • understanding stakeholder engagement (hospital management, clinic, home users, purchasers etc.)

  • product commericalisation - design/development, clinical activities, quality/regulatory, to supply chain and distribution.

  • anything that would help to bring research closer to end-users

Speaker Line-up (in no particular order)

Our first speaker, Mr. Ling Nee Ker, has experience in Hospital Planning, Design and Commissioning, Product design and development of Healthcare software, with Management of Clinical Engineering (Biomedical Engineering). It is his passion to contribute to the improvement in care delivery and clinical outcome, and he will share with us generally how the hospital evaluates and selects medical and non-clinical systems, if they do really meet the needs of the healthcare systems, and what can be improved.

Our second speaker, Mr. Ivan Goh from MERCI, has experience in business development, market research and knowledge in biotechnology, biomedical engineering and medical devices. He is actively pursuing the commercialisation of early-stage medical technologies from Spin-Off to Market Ready Products and will be sharing with us on gathering user requirements and translating it to research and development.

Our third speaker is Sreemanee who is a hospital pharmacist currently pursuing a PhD in Clinical Pharmacy at NUS. His research interest spans from development to clinical implementation of prediction models for the purpose of imparting precision to clinical practice. He will be speaking about a case study on the process and challenges faced in implementing a web application (a clinical decision support tool to aid clinical judgement) for determining appropriate doses of a drug in practice. More importantly, he will let us know his opinion on evaluation of these predictive tools.

Our venue sponsor this time is NUS Hangar, at the i3 building in NUS (where NUS Enterprise is located).
