This is an extended version of the Graybeard Falls hike and is an out and back. It's a steady incline all the way to the summit of Graybeard Mountain. We will pass Graybeard Falls and Walkers Knob along the way, It will be a challenging day at 9.3 miles and 2460 ft of elevation gain. It will be rocky in areas and likely wet and muddy in others but it is a nice trail with great winter views along the way. FYI, Bear hunting season closed Jan 2.

Last minute update - Alternatively, you can turn around at Walkers Knob for a 7.6 mile hike and 1762 ft elevation gain. Depending on interest, we will arrange car pool cars for the long and short options of the hike.

We will meet at the Ingles parking lot in Black Mountain on the McDonalds side of the parking lot. We will leave Ingles at 9AM with whoever is there to go to the trailhead. Parking is limited at the trailhead so please meet us at Ingles about 10 minutes before 9. There is a suggested $5 donation for parking a car at the trailhead and I will cover that for the group.

For those of you that would like to learn how to use AllTrails better, download the hike to your phone in advance and give navigation a try. I don't mind back seat navigators.
