Welcome to Asheville Insight Meditation: a Meditation group located in the beautiful mountains of Asheville, North Carolina. We are a community of supportive individuals who are dedicated to bringing more wisdom, compassion and understanding to this world.

Asheville Meditation provides weekly guided Insight Meditation sessions, a sacred space to practice, opportunities to learn from visiting meditation teachers, reading resources, profound expansion naturally occurring from group sharing and resources for participating in extended insight meditation sessions and retreats.

If you want to learn to meditate, or you are looking for a supportive sangha aligned with your meditation and spiritual practice or you are a seeker looking to add to your spiritual practice, come check us out!

Morning Meditation

Come meditate in a nice meditation hall with other spiritual practitioners, anytime during this hour.

Please practice a silent form of meditation.

Sunday - Group Meditation ONLINE

Because we care about the well-being and continued support of our AIM family members, our usual in-person 10 am meeting will now happen - ONLINE on Zoom (until the COVID-19 crisis passes).

Led by Founding teacher Ronya Banks or one of our trained AIM Facilitators (Geri, Wallace, or Laurie) our Sunday morning group meditation sessions will continue to consist of an unguided 40-minute silent meditation, a video of a dharma talk led by a teacher (25 minutes), and then Q & A/Discussion (20 minutes).

Adults of all experience levels are welcome to attend. Meditation instruction will be given for beginners upon request.

The session begins promptly at 10:00 am. Please mute your audio during the guided meditation and talk.

Group Meditation Guidelines

  • Arrive several minutes early. You are welcome to greet others before we start.
  • Turn off your cell phones and other beeping devices.
  • Sit in a comfortable position, either in your chair or cushions at home (preferably in a quiet room)
  • Please mute yourself during guided meditation, and talk, and then unmute yourself to share during the discussion.
  • Please remain still and do not carry your computer around, as it makes others dizzy.
  • Thank you for helping us create this peaceful and safe refuge.

Meditating with others enriches and supports your practice - even online. We hope you will join us!

Due to the COVID-19 threat, our Drop-In Meditation sessions (Open Sits) are offered ONLINE at ZOOM link:

There is nothing like meditating with others! Even in cyber space!

Drop-in sessions take place Monday through Saturday mornings: 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.

These silent, self-led meditation sessions are open to all.

A meditation leader will ring the bell at the beginning, middle and end of the hour, but you may arrive and depart at any time during that hour.

Session Guidelines

Enter and leave the Zoom room quietly during the hour.
If you can, come early to greet one another before the top of the hour.
Mute yourself during the meditation.
Silence or turn off all phones, and beeping devices.
If you have the time, bring a cup of coffee or tea to enjoy while we connect with one another for a short time after the sit at 10 am.
Stay in your bathrobe or PJ's, just please be clothed!
We will let you know when we resume meeting in person again.
