Montreat- Seven Sisters, 9 Mile, 2,600ft Loop: FITNESS HIKE.

BE SURE OF YOUR HIKING ABILITIES we will keep a fast pace adjusting for trail conditions, regrouping briefly at trail crossings and after steeper climbs. This is NOT a hike for the beginning or casual hiker. If your hiking interests include exercise and outdoor fitness join us. keep your RSVP status updated even if on a waitlist. We will hike the loop clockwise, which is the more challenging direction. The Hike includes Big Piney, the West Ridge, the Seven Sisters, Graybeard Mountain, Walker Knob, and waterfalls. Hike elevation ranges between 2338 and 5260 ft., level 8*).

NEW: Parking Fee: Montreat is asking for a $5.00 per car donation to help finance trail reconstruction.

CARPOOLING: Meet at Home Depot parking lot at 9:25
When you enter the parking lot stay left down the hill and to the left at the bottom of the hill into the little parking area below the entry ramp.

DOGS: Friendly dogs are welcome. Bring a leash.

WEATHER: As always, wear reasonable shoes. Dress in layers with ears and hands protection for cooler temps. Bring a snack, water, and a camera. Winter weather, temps likely in the 30s and 40s. There may be residual snow and/or ice on the higher peaks? Any hike cancellation will be posted on or before 7:30 am hike day.

CARPOOL: Meet at the Ingles Market across from the VA Hospital (parking above the gas pumps) at 9am. Let the hike leader know if you intend to carpool.

FITNESS HIKE LEVELS ARE BASED ON THE ELEVATION GAIN:
Level 1, up to 600' elevation Gain; Level 2, 600-900'; Level 3, 900-1200'; Level 4, 1200-1500'; Level 5; 1500-1800'; Level 6, 1800-2100'; Level 7, 2100-2400'; Level 8*, 2400-2700'; Level 9, 2700-3000'; Level 10, 3000-4000'.
