The meeting spot is
Black Mountain Town Square at the main intersection downtown of State Street and Hwy 9.

About 10.5 miles finishing around 1:30.
It is possible to cut it short at 4.5 miles or 8 miles.
There will be a coffee stop.

Here are the details for our upcoming Black Mountain Camino walk on Saturday June 6 at 9:00 AM. As usual, please arrive 10-15 minutes early.
We will meet at the Black Mountain Town Square pavilion located near the corner of Hwy 9 and State Street. Free parking is adjacent to the town square.
Directions and Parking: If coming from Asheville take I-40 East to Exit 64 for Black Mountain, Left off the exit onto Hwy 9; continue to the main intersection of Hwy 9 and State St; Right onto E. State St; first Left onto West Street; Immediate left into Black Mountain Town Square parking lot. If this parking area is full you can park opposite the Police and Fire Dept building – also free but park on either end - - but not in the reserved spots in the middle. A third free parking area is next to White Horse Black Mountain across the street from Town Square.
Our full walk is about 10.5 miles and will take about 4 hours. You can leave the walk early for a total distance of 4.5 or 8 miles. The walk is moderate with only one section with noticeable elevation gain. Most of the walk is on paved surfaces so wear comfortable shoes. Dress appropriately for the weather.
Some highlights of the route include Lake Tomahawk, views of the Seven Sisters mountain peaks, walking from town to town as on a Camino, a church with a mural, a short section in the woods, bridge crossings, and creekside walks. There is also an opportunity to become the King of England (you have to be there to understand).
We stop for coffee at Peri Social House at about 4.0 miles (approximately 10:15), then for lunch by Montreat College. Bring a packed lunch.
Bring water and snacks. There are multiple restroom opportunities including Black Mountain Town Square where we start and end.
Optional beers afterwards at nearby Lookout Brewery on S. Ridgeway Ave. They have a food truck.
No RSVP required. Just show up and please arrive 10-15 minutes before the walk begins at 9:00 AM.
