What we’re about
Hi. I’m Birdie. I’m an 11-month-old cavapoo, and my human has decided that I do not need to greet every person, inspect every dog, or share my thoughts loudly in public. I think this is a bold take.
Apparently, this is called training. Apparently, it’s “important”.
My human started this group because teaching dogs to politely ignore the world is wildly inconvenient to practice alone, and practicing around random dogs with random vibes is how people end up saying “we’re just working through something” in parking lots.
This group is for humans training service or therapy dogs and for anyone deeply committed to raising a dog who can exist calmly in public. We meet at dog-friendly public places to walk around and practice real-life skills like passing other dogs, ignoring extremely interesting humans, settling politely, and allowing our humans to say hello while we demonstrate self-control and personal growth.
Birdie’s Rules of Public Conduct:
• This is not a training class. My human is not a professional dog trainer. This cannot be overstated.
• Advice is optional. Consent is mandatory. Ignoring things is the goal.
• Dogs should be able to handle public spaces without excessive barking, growling, or bathroom incidents. Some enthusiasm, distraction, and character development is expected.
Group sizes stay small so nobody completely loses their mind (including me). The goal is calm dogs, supportive humans, and fewer moments where someone says “she’s friendly” in a tone that suggests regret.
If you and your dog are working on public manners and enjoy structure, humor, and practicing neutrality in the wild, we would love to politely ignore you in public.
