Welcome to the Astrophotography Meetup group!
Beginners, amateurs, enthusiasts, semi-pros, and professionals are welcome to join this group for photography adventures to explore, learn, experiment, and enjoy photography. If you are serious about getting outdoors to capture photos of nature, the Milky Way, and the night sky, you have found the right group. The group travels around California primarily for Milky Way nightscape and deep sky objects. We may occasionally mix things up by having light painting events or attending the Surf Dog Surf-A-Thon and MCSA Miramar Air Show events. Meet new people, visit new locations, share photos and knowledge, and discuss camera equipment, software, editing workflow, and other photography topics.
While there are free events, any event fees cover the expertise of planning by your host(s) and help cover the Meetup group's cost. This may include additional costs like group campgrounds and vehicle rental for specific events. This will ensure you get to the best spots at the right time for the potential for great images. Much time and effort goes into planning and coordination that will improve the results. Additional costs NOT covered by event fees include but are not limited to entrance fees, transportation, sharing of gas costs when carpooling, and food.
