We Stopped Writing Code (and We’re Fine)

Runway East Brighton, 50 New England Street, Brighton, GB

James (Hugman) and Daz (Mothersele) are experienced developers with decades of software development between them, but neither has written any code in months. So what are they actually doing all day?

Since this alien technology arrived without a manual, they’ve both been figuring it out. What are AI coding agents? What works and where does it break? And, what does your job become when the agent is doing the typing? AI coding isn’t just a model. It’s model plus harness plus process, and that process we’re all discovering as we work out how to use this technology.

In this talk they’ll share what they’ve learned: how they’ve each adapted, what their workflows look like now, and what’s actually working. They’ll walk through some of the specifics: the ralph loop, context management, verification, and a few demos of things built along the way.

🍕🍻 Pizza and drinks will be provided thanks to sponsorship from Puck - the open source visual editor for React.

In-person attendees: Please arrive at Runway East (ground floor) between 19:00 and 19:15 for refreshments and socializing. Make sure you are registered to attend so we have an idea of numbers for catering.

Remote attendees: We will start broadcasting the event at 19:30 online (link added closer to the event), there is no need to register.

Don't forget to join the Async Slack for updates.
