"Fire Ecology across U.S. Biomes in 15 Minutes"
Wildfire has been very much in the national news in 2025 ranging from the Los Angeles area wildfires to the Northeastern U.S. pine barrens and locally here in Las Vegas with multiple wildfires at Clark County Wetlands Park. This presentation provides a rapid overview using examples from across the U.S. of how ecosystems have changed to change the wildfires occurring, and in turn, how wildfires are shaping ecosystems. The examples of wildfire from different parts of the country are intended to stimulate discussion for the changes driving wildfires, their perceived degree of naturalness, and their effects and management.
