Leo Igwe — Why Critical Thinking Matters in Africa

Details

Join us for a presentation by internationally renowned Humanist activist, Leo Igwe!

Critical thinking is necessary for growth, development and enlightenment in Africa. To combat religious extremism, ignorance, and superstition-based abuses, it is important to foster these cognitive skills in African schools.

Leo Igwe‘s organization, Critical Thinking Social Empowerment Foundation, is leading efforts to promote critical thinking skills in schools. It is campaigning for the introduction of the subject of critical thinking in primary and secondary schools. In his presentation he will discuss what they are doing at the moment, the progress that they have made and what you could do to support this initiative. For more information, visit:

Leo Igwe is a board member of the Humanist Association of Nigeria and Humanists International. He holds a doctoral degree in religious studies from the University of Bayreuth in Germany and wrote his doctoral thesis on witchcraft accusations in Northern Ghana. Igwe directs the Advocacy for Alleged Witches, and Critical Thinking Social Empowerment Foundation.
