A meetup for casual networking, conversation and meeting other film makers. After the first 45 minutes of the mixer our panel guests, Alex Javo and Ken Merritt will answer questions from your hosts. For the remaining 15 minutes attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions of the panel.

Alex Javo

Alex Javo has always had a love for movies and TV shows. Alex started as an extra then moved on to pursue stand in work on shows Cobra Kai and The Gifted. He later on started in Student Films and Short films he auditioned for and landed. He landed his first agent in 2019 and he has been told he is “very driven” and is “a class act“ from higher ups in the industry.

“For me Acting is my way of expressing myself honestly and completely. I remember one of the first scenes I did on a film where there was a bunch of people around me and it was just me and my fellow co-star exchanging dialogue and when the scene finished I just remember having this thrill inside of me. That fulfillment of being truly happy and loving something like I had never loved anything before. That’s when I knew this is where I belonged and what I want to do forever.“

Alex Javo is known for Ambrogio: The First Vampire (2025), Fatal Attraction (2013) and Condor's Nest (2023). He has 125 credits to his name since 2017, including feature films, TV shows, and short films.

Ken Merritt

Ken Merritt is the owner of Off The Rails Production Company and the founder of the First Friday Filmmakers Facebook group.

He has produced 20 short films in 4 years and counting, through his production company and with First Friday Filmmakers. 

Ken's group allows anyone of any skill set or no skills to work on a live film set that is filming for high production and low cost. They film on the first Friday weekend of each month, for the most part, at locations 
mostly in the Atlanta area. The group has been so prolific in recent years they have formed a relationship with the Cobb International Film Festival. All the films made by the group since the previous CIFF are screened Friday night during the 4-day weekend festival.

Ken has also directed 11 short films and been the writer of 9 of them since 2021.
