Blockchain 101 Power User Class

By the end of this class you will have fundamental knowledge of how to be basic Bitcoin/cryptocurrency user while avoiding many potholes that exist in the blockchain space.

Each participant will:

• receive $20 in Bitcoin, to be sent to their Bitcoin address at no additional fee. (We can help you set this up).
• receive a certificate of completion verifiable on the Bitcoin blockchain.

This meetup will run from 10AM – 3PM and will break for lunch between 11:30 AM and 1 PM. Please note that lunch IS NOT included in class fees.

OUTLINE:

• What is a blockchain?
• How can cryptocurrency be bought and sold?
• What are the fundamentals of storing cryptocurrency safely?
• What are high quality online resources?
• We ill examine some interesting projects in the space, and their differences.
• We will discuss basic investment strategies like DCA, HODL, & diversification (NOTE: we are not qualified licensed investment advisors).
• How to avoiding some scams?
• What do you need to know with regard to taxes?

Class Exercises:

• Using Testnet3 to move coins around.
• Demonstrating batch transaction by transferring $20 worth of Bitcoin.
• Demonstrating a hardware wallet (hardware wallets will be available for purchase)
• setting up,
• wiping clean,
• using pass-phrases, and
• overall usage of wallet.

What to bring:

laptop, hardware wallets (these will also be available for purchase through protectingcoin.com, a reseller), paper/pen, smart phone.
