DESCRIPTION:
This is the intermediate Power User 102 Bitcoin and Blockchain class. Beginners are welcomed!
By the end of this class you will have more knowledge than the average blockchain user. We will go over how to sign messages, use multisig, and how to spend bitcoin via the lightning network.
Each participant will receive a certificate of completion verifiable on the Bitcoin blockchain.
This meetup will run from 10AM – 3PM and will break for lunch between 11:30 AM and 1 PM. Please note that lunch IS NOT included in class fees.
GOALS:
- Understand how to price a transaction fee based on the current mempool.
- Learn different methods of secure storage.
- Learn how to sign messages with a Bitcoin key
- Interact with fellow attendees via cryptocurrency exercises.

- Using a Blockchain Explorer and Looking at Bitcoin's Mempool
- Offchain Transactions and LN Demo
CLASS EXERCISE:
- Digital Signatures to verify messages using P2PKH keys
- LN exercise - making small payments
- Understanding how
Hardware Wallet Demo (hardware wallets for sale at event)
- Setting up, wiping clean, pass-phrases and overall usage. (available demo upon request)
If you are interested in having something else specific discussed, please let us know when you register for the class, and we will try to include it.
WHAT TO BRING:
laptop, hardware wallets (these will also be available for purchase through protectingcoin.com, a reseller), paper/pen, smartphone. It is ideal to bring a small amount of Bitcoin for the exercise, there will be opportunities to buy Bitcoin with cash at the event.
