Special Needs Sailing, Baseball, Cameron

From: Alan K.

Hi everyone,

Here is an update on our special olympics sailing program, baseball and my son Cameron.

We have had 8 special athletes out sailing and our goal was 6.   Our pace for practice has slowed somewhat due to the back to school confusion of everyone.  Our sailing program is under expansion as we have found a few more developmentally disabled athletes who want to be a part of this.  Jenni is now drawing mermaids, sailboats and more and we should see her back soon.

The pack of disabled cub scouts, 114, that the Atlanta Volunteers helps out with and sponsors is also growing!

We have 5 scheduled baseball games left.  If you have had training please volunteer for one of the few remaining games as they have been hard to fill.  My new job schedule puts me away on Friday evenings But I can be at every other game.

For those of you keeping up with my struggle to keep Cameron in school, Gwinnett county has once again kicked him out of his zone school.  We have previously sued Gwinnett County and won to keep him in his zone school and now they are doing the exact same thing.  We filed due process on Wed and we will once again waste a lot of tax payer money taking this to court.  Cameron was very sad and very affected emotionally after a policeman was called to escort him off of school property.  I was there with him and although he was enrolled there,  he was escorted by the police off the campus.   The last bill to the taxpayers costs over $400 just to print out.  We haven't paid the $400 - 500 to get a total,  but we estimate the cost taken out of the school system to be easily  $ 400,000, and now they are doing it again.

My disabled son has now been forcibly removed from his peers and society and the police were called to do it, and we have it on video.   What do you think that does for his ideas about being accepted by his peers and society?

They want to put him in a class separate from all the other school children and bus him to get him there.

Keep up the great work everyone!
