What is a priming battle?

  • Both sides make a prime.
  • Both back checkers are trapped.

Who is favorite in a priming battle.

  • The better your prime, the bigger favorite you become. A beautiful 4- point prime without gaps is superior to a 4-point prime with a gap.
  • The player who can extend their prime more easily with extra checkers from their mid-point is favorite.
  • Who trails in the race. Strangely, the player who trails in the race is favorite. Small numbers like 1s and 2s are desirable. Big doubles become hated and unwelcome.
