Opening Goals

Key goals that drive opening play:

• Advance the back checkers. Your back checkers are a big liability. Get them moving.
• Block your opponents back checkers. Thwart your opponents goals by making key blocking points.
• Hit. BG is a race. When in doubt, hit. Send your opponents checker back to their starting point.
• Unstack. 5 checkers on your 6 & 13 point are a strategic weakness. Activate these checkers. Get them into the game.
• Balance. Find balance between risk and uncertainty.
