Coromandel Forest - Maratoto: Old Wires Track

Details
Greetings Everyone - Join us this Sunday as we explore the Coromandel Forest and walk the Old Wires Track and return via the Maratoto 4WD Road
● Some words to Inspire you:
Trekking the Maratoto: Old Wires Track in the Coromandel Forest offers a rewarding adventure through dense native bush, historic sites, and rugged terrain. This moderate to challenging trail follows an old telegraph wire route, once used to connect Coromandel to Waikato, adding a fascinating historical touch to the journey.
The track winds through lush forest, with towering rimu and kahikatea trees, and crosses clear streams before climbing to spectacular viewpoints overlooking the Pohuehue Valley.
Walkers will also come across remnants of old mining and logging operations, reminders of the area's rich past.
The muddy and uneven terrain can be challenging, especially after rain, making sturdy footwear essential. However, the peaceful remoteness and stunning scenery make it well worth the effort.
Whether you're a history buff or a nature lover, the Old Wires Track offers a perfect mix of wilderness, history, and adventure in the heart of Coromandel Forest.
