Improv is a life changing art form that will help you grow in your self-confidence as you discover that you can handle anything life throws at you, after all, life is improvised. If you’re interested, don’t hesitate to sign up.

Learn to perform long-form improvisation with Improverished, Tāmaki Makaurau’s fave improv theatre company specialising in long-form narrative shows. We’ve been creating fully improvised narrative theatre shows for 10 years now and we decided it was finally time to run a course to share everything we’ve learned.
Here’s all the details you need to know:
WHAT: Off-Script! Is a 6 week course developed especially by Improverished to teach you the core skills to get started in long-form narrative improvisation. There is also a performance opportunity following the final class on Saturday 23 August. You will learn one of our very own original improv formats and get the chance to perform for your friends and whānau.
WHEN: Classes are Tuesday nights 15 July - 19 August from 6:45pm - 8:45pm with an (optional but encouraged) final performance on Saturday 23 August
WHO: Everyone who has been learning improv for at least 1 year is welcome to attend this course. Maybe you've been improvising for a long time but you've never done a longform narrative show before. Maybe you've been coming to our open workshops for about a year and you're ready for more. Maybe you've taken improv classes for a while and you're excited to do a show. WHERE: All classes will be in Auckland CBD. Final performance will be at the Pumphouse Theatre coalbunker. Full address details will be sent to participants upon signup.
COSTS: Accessibility is so important to us in Improverished so we are offering this course with a sliding scale payment option between $150-$180 for the full 6 week course, including the final performance. We have endeavoured to make this course as financially accessible as possible, which is a core part of everything we do.
FINAL PERFORMANCE: The (optional!) final performance is a chance for you to have fun, get silly, and share what you’ve learned with your nearest and dearest. Plus a super exciting opportunity to learn and perform one of Improverished’s beloved original formats. There is no additional cost to participate in this performance. Audience members will need to purchase tickets for a very modest fee (tbc) of under $10 to support our wonderful venue partner.

It's time for an open improv workshop with Improverished!
Never done improv before? You're welcome to come along and try it out! Done tons of improv before? You're welcome to come along too!
Improverished is a joyful improvised theatre company that's been operating since 2015. This is an open workshop that anyone with any level of improv experience is welcome to attend. What exactly we cover will depend on who ends up coming along on the day, but expect some fun improv warmups, some improv games, some laughs and some storytelling. Accessibility and providing an entry point for new improvisors is a core part of our theatre company's kaupapa so these open workshops are our way of spreading improv joy in the community and creating a welcoming entry-point or coming-together point for people to do some improv.
There is no fee to attend this workshop, however you're welcome to contribute an optional Koha of a few dollars towards the venue hire cost. You're welcome to bring cash or we'll share our bank account number at the end if you'd like to do a transfer. Suggested Koha is $2-$10 depending on your financial situation.
