About us
Welcome! This is a friendly community for anyone in Auckland who wants to practice job interviews in a low-pressure, supportive environment.
Whether you're preparing for your first tech interview, returning to the job market after a break, switching careers, or just want to get more comfortable talking about your work — you belong here. We run mock interviews where members take turns being the interviewer and the candidate, give each other constructive feedback, and learn together.
Who is this group for?
Everyone. Seriously.
New to New Zealand and worried about your English? Come along. Many of us are in the same boat, and practice is exactly how we get better.
No work experience yet? Students, career changers, and people returning to work are all welcome. Mock interviews are one of the best ways to build confidence before the real thing.
Experienced engineer who just hates interviewing? You'll fit right in.
Not in tech? That's fine too — interview skills transfer across industries.
What you can expect
A judgment-free space. No gatekeeping, no "you should already know this" attitudes, no quiet ranking of who has the best accent or the fanciest CV. We're here to help each other, not compete.
We rotate roles so everyone gets practice on both sides of the table, which turns out to be one of the fastest ways to improve. Sessions cover behavioural questions, technical interviews, system design, take-home discussions, and whatever else members are preparing for.
Bring whatever level of English you have. Bring your nerves. Bring your half-formed answers. That's literally what this group is for.
Looking forward to meeting you.

Mock Interview with an AI agent
Te Marama Room, Auckland Central Library, Level 1, 44-46 Lorne Street, Auckland, NZAt this event, we will invite Alan Ho to give a speech on how to conduct a mock interview with AI on our own. He recently built an AI mock interview system that is free and incredible. You can use this system to continually polish your interview performance.
Building an Adaptive AI Interview Coach Beyond a Chatbot
As AI makes interview preparation more accessible, the real challenge is making practice personal, realistic, and evidence-based. In this session, Alan shares how Kiwi Coach was built as a compound AI system for job seekers. The platform turns a candidate’s CV and job description into a structured interview plan, then runs an adaptive text or voice interview that can ask follow-up questions based on the user’s answers.
The talk will cover how CV parsing, JD analysis, CV-JD matching, retrieval-supported reasoning, voice interaction, and report quality checks work together to create a more useful coaching experience. Learn why the value is not just in generating questions, but in designing a workflow that connects evidence, context, feedback, and user review into one interview preparation system.40 attendees
