WAIKATO REGION- BUSH WALK & WATERFALLS VISIT & PIZZA LUNCH @ RURAL CAFE

Happy New Year All.

Are you looking for a leisurely easy going bush walk to a Waterfall ?

Then eat the best Pizza for lunch in a Countryside Location..about 90 minutes from Auckland...and perhaps play Petanque?

Join us for some fun recreational outdoor activities here on Auckland Social Events as we go Waterfall Exploring ...do an easy paced one hour plus nature trail bush walk each way .... to the Waterfall here at Waikaretu Valley, roughly 90mins DRIVE away from Auckland to South West Waikato .

We stop lots to rest and take pictures and talk about the things we see along the way and you'll learn something about the flora and fauna around here....be sure you wear strong walking shoes or something similar....no boardwalks here .

With the opportunity to cool down under this big Waterfall or watch while others have wet fun...We walk back the same way....to the Carpark and Cafe...and toilets.

We will have lunch here inside at the long shared tables or outside there's plenty of tables here too...Or bring a picnic blanket.....All of this is so beautiful overlooking the Limestone Valley here at this rural country location that's not Advertised in Auckland...

The owners Anne and Phillip are famous here.. and have been on TV like Country Calendar, raising 5 children...now in their 70s..I assist them here too.

You’ll also enjoy the splendid rural country drive here and back after exiting the southern motorway at the Mercer Food Complex and crossing over the Waikato River here ...

Passengers will enjoy seeing all the farming and vegetable growing areas here passing Pukekawa and Glen Murray before heading inland to reach the quieter Waikaretu Valley a few km from the Tasman Sea on the West Coast.

Arriving at the Carpark, there's a huge Rural Cafe that's famous for mant people living near Hamilton and all over the Waikato Region..

Grab coffee roasted here; with a fresh scone .. before we head off to walk to the Waterfall here...on the nature trail created by the owners of the farm we are visiting here today. ..now gifted to the public.

Within 30 minutes of easy bush walking we will find the big Waterfall here...Standing under to cool down or watch while others have the opportunity...there's another pool above the Waterfall for 10 new close friends.

Returning back to the Carpark and Cafe surrounded by the huge limestone formations that dominate this area amongst the farm here...We will feast on the seasonal food choices here....

Choose from 4 sizes of handmade pizza with toppings piled high with delicious ingredients...or grab hot food like burgers and fries and garden fresh salads and drinks..there's plenty of reasons to visit here today...catering to vegetarian and vegan..and animal based members...we will have a fabulous visit here today in the middle of nowhere ville..

Bring along everything you need to keep yourself happy..wear your bathing suits or something similar..carry water and bring your towel..and view the pictures below from previous events I've been bringing people together here for many years...now is your opportunity as we welcome in Summer Season and 2026..

WHEN - SATURDAY 10TH JANUARY 2026.

WHERE MEETING- Nikau Cafe Carpark. 1770 Waikaretu Valley Road. Waikaretu.

Fill up with petrol before you leave Auckland or at Mercer Food Complex which is the last place for the two hour return drive.

Meet us at 10.30am to come on the Waterfall Walk . We will leave at 11AM.

Or come later for Shared Lunch from 1pm where we will return to the Cafe for Pizza and other food choices.

Active School Age Children or Teenagers are Welcome under your supervision.

We will also play Petanque Games on the Grassed Areas after lunch break for anyone interested..Or cool down your feet in the Stream that flows alongside the Cafe at the back.

Great toilets here and Coffee is roasted on the site.

Many other people come here too for the Caves Tours..however we are not doing any group visits today and will return later in February which need to be booked.

Please Note this is a small family business located on a working sheep farm. Not a big tourist operation like Waitomo or something like Rotorua. The pace of life is slower than the rush of Auckland. Be prepared to wait for service..relax here and chat with others or direct any questions please to me. Thank you.
