Huia Dams Bush Walk - Afternoon Start - Evening Finish - Waitakere Ranges

Hi there...

Come along to Huia today on the edge of the beautiful Manakau Harbour...for an easy half day Bush Walking in the Waitakere Ranges...getting some gentle exercise...and moving our bodies....in nature...where we will have an adventure together visiting two Dams...The Lower Huia and the Upper Huia Dam as pictured.

This is ideally suited for people new to hiking and other interested in walking and talking...wanting to slow down and look around and take in the peaceful surroundings of the Waitakere Ranges, and perhaps learn something about the flora and fauna around here, including seeing some big native trees; learn about the importance of the history here...and how many people lived here in early New Zealand...making a living, raising children here in the harsh winters and hot summer...Where medical aid was far away...and mother's were raised tough...and fathers.. worked from sunup...to sun down...There's plenty of reasons to be here today as we walk deep into the landscape of my heart...This is your opportunity today too
...bring a friend or two.

We walk through a few short tunnels and up and down short hills...hear bird song and enjoy the journey getting here today and home in the evening...Plan on leaving with a smile...

About 6km return bush walk , and approx 4 to 5 hours walking. Good stamina required.

We stop lots to rest and take pictures.

About Stephen - I've been bringing people together here for many years, I founded the Original Feet First Hiking And Urban Walking Meet Up Group in 2010. I'm currently in a relationship with Grace.

I'm a quirky extroverted knowledgeable hiking guide host....So expect a fun afternoon start and an evening Finish...and the opportunity to make new friends and take some fantastic pictures.

Afterward we finish...we can enjoy hot food, Burgers and drinks at the nearby Huia Cafe for anyone interested opposite Huia Beach.

WHERE MEETING- HUIA DOMAIN CARPARK ON HUIA ROAD.

Entrance on left just before One Lane Bridge. Carpark is behind the Huia Beach...
Toilets here too and at Upper Huia Dam..later.

MEETING AT 2 pm.

After introductions and a Health and Safety check we will begin this wonderful walk. Carry everything you Need.

We will aim to be finished by 7pm. Depending on group size.

Bring along a small torch or Headlight or just use your mobile phone for the Tunnels.

Adult Guests are Welcome provided you inform them about what to bring and wear . This is your responsibility. Thank you.

BRING-
Wear or Carry thermal wool layers to keep yourself happy outdoors here today when we stop. A rain jacket is important too or an umbrella. A hiking pole is optional and helpful. I always carry mine.

Important - Please be sure you have a clear recognizable portrait photo of yourself on your Auckland Social Events Profile...and a First name we can call you ..when you RSVP.

This builds connection and trust within the Group Hike and helps me identify you too. Thank you.

Carry everything in a small backpack. Including Food and Water.

Warm layers like merino or thermal wool etc. A rain jacket or hat...is important too..or carry small umbrella.

Plenty of stops for today's walk. Toilets at the Upper Huia Dam.

We walk in, and return same way. A there and back Guided Bush Walking Adventure.

No Dogs or Smokers or Children today please.

I Suggest you give your Driver some money towards petrol costs..at least $20 Cash.
