Group Think - Living a Stoic Life When Others Don't

Details

In a society, we influence and persuade each other. Fitting in by following the 'norm' made sense in the past, as getting kicked out of the tribe due to differences meant certain death.

Fitting in can still make sense. Although we may not physically die from such instances anymore, parts of our social, familial and individual lives may (metaphorically) die, should we change and become different in comparison to those around us and how we used to be.

As stoics, we aim to lead a principled and virtuous life. This can be hard at the best of times. In this discussion, we will consider how, as practising stoics, we can lead such a life in the face of habit, other people and adversity.

This is not the time for platitudes like 'treat others the way you want to be treated' or 'stop being sheeple,' but for pragmatic approaches to living out the character and principles we aim to follow.
