More Tuesday Games in May

Western Springs Garden Community Hall

Tena koe As you know, Tuesday evenings are a very good time to meet with other people to play boardgames. We know this because our boardgaming group has been meeting on the second, fourth, and when they occur, fifth Tuesdays of each month since 2nd November 2004. Why don’t you come along and keep this happening? We provide an informal, safe, and friendly space for the regular playing of board games by folk of all ages and types. The games range from light hearted family games to cunning games of strategy. We play games like Settlers of Catan, Power Grid, Ticket to Ride, Azul, Agricola, Tsuro, Bohnanza, Eldritch Horror, Scythe, Terraforming Mars, and Camel Up, amongst many others. But don’t worry if you don’t know how to play a particular game, someone will teach you. We meet from 7 pm until 10 pm. For this Tuesday we are meeting at the Western Springs Garden Community Hall opposite Western Springs Park at 956 Great North Road. Please bring along games and fellow gamers as well as a contribution of $4. This last goes towards our venue hire and maintaining a small games library. First time visitors are not asked to contribute the $4. There are three effective ways to keep up to date with when we are meeting. There is this Meetup group http://www.meetup.com/aucklandboardgamers/ There is also a Facebook group https://www.facebook.com/groups/45135229834/ There is a BoardGameGeek guild https://boardgamegeek.com/guild/2968 If you have any questions, please contact: * Charles Grinter, telephone[masked] (mob) email [masked]; or * Katherine; text only at[masked] or * John Kennedy, telephone[masked] -------------------------------------------- Guidelines and additional information. 1. Keep it safe and fun. People of a variety of ages and dispositions come along to enjoy playing board games. Please do the same and keep your behaviour welcoming and friendly. 2. A contribution of $4 is requested. This assists with paying the venue hire, and maintaining a small games library. 3. People bring along their valuable games for others to share - please take care when playing their games and ask permission before using one! It is the responsibility of everyone who plays a game to assist with packing it up and making sure that no pieces are missing. 4. You are welcome to bring along food and non-alcoholic drinks. Please take your rubbish with you and leave everything clean. If you are there at the end of a game, please help to pack up games, tables and chairs. 5. When choosing "one last game", please remember that we need to vacate promptly at 10pm due to our hire agreement. Also, please remember that those locking up may have family to care for and work to do on Wednesday morning. 6. Generally these have not been problems, but it's worth stating explicitly as new people come along. 7. Please continue to spread the word and invite others to join us.

Regular session: North Shore Board Games Group

East Coast Bays Service Centre

We play modern board games in Browns Bay every Wednesday. The games range from the daft and frantic to the slow and thoughtful, from the 10 minute "filler" up to the 3 hour head scratcher depending on your mood. Games are mainly arranged on an adhoc basis and taught on the night so don't worry if you haven't played anything like this before. The following links contain examples of the kind of games we played from March to May in 2013. http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/157274/ http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/156512/ http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/154663/ Our main method of organisation is the FaceBook page, but we thought we'd cross post here in case anyone wasn't aware of us. Hope to see you there. http://www.facebook.com/groups/northshorestrategygames/ If you've not been before, the right hand entrance to the Service Centre is the one you want and there'll be a whiteboard in the foyer saying which room we're in.
