What we’re about
Hello and welcome to Concord's arguably best short story book club: Audacity and Originality: A Classic Short Story Potluck.
Here’s my plan: I’ll pick out two short stories to read from a collection each month and then we’ll get together on the first Wednesday to discuss. Ideally, we’ll all bring a delicious potluck dish to share, so we can sit down together and eat while we talk about that month’s selections.
Off the top of my head, stories will be picked from authors including: Anton Chekhov, Flannery O'Connor, Johh Cheever, Raymond Carver, Tobias Wolff, Roald Dahl, Tennessee Williams, and, of course, Shirley Jackson
The name for this group comes from Chekhov's rules on writing... or at least, the first part of the group's name does. That's why he'll be the featured author for our first meeting in February 2026. I hope you'll join us and bring something delicious to eat and share.
