What is our response to the suffering and cruelty we see all around us in our world? Discouragement, fear, grief, rage …? When we find ourselves caught up in painful, overwhelming minds, is there anything that we can do? Yes!
Buddha’s teachings are incredibly helpful in good times and even more so in bad times. He specializes in digging deep into the causes of all our suffering, individually and collectively, so that we can solve it; and in his Lojong (mind-training) teachings he explains how we can transform literally everything into the path to freedom and lasting happiness through the power of love.
“Our world is becoming increasingly dangerous and polluted, while internally our minds are becoming rougher and more uncontrolled. Although such conditions make conventional spiritual practice very difficult, if we practice the instructions contained within Eight Verses, we can transform all these adversities into the path to enlightenment and live happily in the midst of this impure world.” ~ The New Eight Steps to Happiness by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso
In this class we are using The New Eight Steps to Happiness, which is available from our bookstore. Based on the famous Eight Verses of Training the Mind by the great Bodhisattva, Langri Tangpa, this inspiring book shows with extraordinary clarity how to transform all life's difficulties into valuable spiritual insights.

This class is now in person only every Thursday evening at 6:30pm.
This course is based on the teachings in Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso's latest book, The Mirror of Dharma. Dharma means the teachings of enlightened beings, and this book is directed at those who sincerely wish to make practical progress on their spiritual path. The Mirror of Dharma clearly shows how we can solve our daily problems of anger, uncontrolled desire and ignorance, and how to make our life happy and meaningful.
Kadam Lucy James will share the commentary to this new book in this special series of classes, which are open to everyone. As one of Venerable Geshe-la’s earliest disciples, she brings to KMC Colorado deep experience from several decades of practice, and inspiring, insightful and practical teachings and guided meditations.
Each class consists of a teaching, meditation, prayers and time for some in-depth discussion.
### The Author: Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche
"We can see and find the sun of the supreme happiness of enlightenment from The Mirror of Dharma. How fortunate we are." — Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche
The author, Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche, is an internationally-renowned meditation master and scholar. In this book, he explains as practical instructions the complete path to enlightenment, based on his deep experience gained from a lifetime spent in meditation.
### The Third Aspect: The Correct View of Emptiness
The wisdom realizing emptiness, the true nature of reality, is profound. Through gaining experience of it, we are able to let go of all the internal obstacles that hold us back from becoming who we really wish to be. Indeed, gaining a deep realization of emptiness has the power to liberate us from suffering altogether and to help us to actualize our highest potential, enlightenment.
These classes come from the very special book given to us by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso and help us to understand Buddha's blessed path to enlightenment. These teachings are not to be missed.
Please join us. We are looking forward to seeing you and as always everyone is welcome.
