Aurora Mutual Aid is a grassroots, volunteer-led collective rooted in Aurora, Illinois. Our work centers on building community resilience and challenging systems that perpetuate harm. We believe that everyone deserves dignity, support, and the chance to thrive. Through solidarity—not charity—we address both urgent needs and the root causes of injustice.
Mutual aid means more than just helping one another—it’s a direct form of political participation, where neighbors care for each other and create new, more just social relations. Rather than waiting for external systems or governmental solutions, we take action together to address the daily crises of inequality, systemic racism, and economic injustice. Mutual aid is not about top-down charity; it’s about solidarity, empowerment, and changing the conditions that create need in the first place.
