A Rack on a Desk & The Oracle Cloud
Details
This month will take us away from security and tackle some interesting edge cases around using live hardware to easily model situations and a look as solutions living the the Oracle cloud (coming soon)
Victory CTO will provide food and beverages for this meet up.
Title
Modeling Data Centers on your Desk
Abstract
We've all struggled with the need for more Linux instances for various reasons: testing, debugging, simulation. The overhead of using cloud providers can make this simple task more complicated than it needs to be. What if you had a rack of three hardware-based Linux instances? What if expanding the number of instances was as easy as adding another rack, a power cable and a network cable? Come learn about the Mini Pi Rack, the tiny server cluster for your desktop.

Chris Weaver has made many products ranging from hardware to cloud apps with his most recent love being distributed data pipelines. After struggling with company policies about spinning up new machine instances, he decided to solve the problem for himself by building yet another piece of hardware, which transformed into the Mini Pi Rack project.

Title
What's new with the Oracle Cloud
Abstract
At Oracle, we're spending a lot of time and effort to move our products to the cloud. We're also placing a bet that enterprises require a cloud that has all the tooling that you'd expect from a cloud, but at the same time, is interoperable with open source tooling.
In this talk, I'll share requests I often see from enterprises in my new role as a Cloud Native evangelist at Oracle, talk about our overall cloud strategy, share the cool things we've been doing on the open / cloud native side of things.
You'll leave with anecdotes of what to expect going forward, fun enterprise stories, and an idea of the coolest thing we've been spending time on.
