Event Description:
Capital City Beginner Clinic at Waterloo Pickleball
Ready to dive into the world of pickleball? Our three-week Beginner Clinic is perfect for newcomers and players looking to sharpen their basics. Through focused training and hands-on practice, you’ll build confidence, master essential skills, and elevate your game in no time!
The court is indoors with water and bathrooms. Paddles can be borrowed at no extra cost.- Week 1 (May 24): Dinking and Ball Control + Introduction to Serves Begin with the foundation of pickleball—dinking. Learn how to develop “feel” for the ball with controlled, soft shots near the net. This session will help you build consistency and confidence in hitting the ball back and forth. We will also learn the basics of serving in preparation for Week 2.
- Week 2 (May 31): Serving and Return of Serve + Positioning Focus on mastering proper serving techniques and effective return strategies. This session emphasizes accuracy and consistency, two key elements where many players struggle. Additionally, learn how to position yourself effectively on the court and improve your defensive tactics. Understand where to be during play and how to anticipate your opponent’s shots.
- Week 3 (June 7): Game Play and Strategy (Drives and Drops) Put it all together with guided game play and strategy sessions. Develop advanced tactics, shot selection, and effective teamwork to level up your doubles play. We will work on adding more tools to your arsenal for how to win points.
Get ready to build a strong foundation and take your pickleball skills to the next level!
