About us

Making real friends as an adult is harder than it should be. Not because people aren't lovely, they are, but because the standard path (coffee meetups, happy hours, "we should hang out sometime") rarely turn into anything.

ComonThread runs small friendship cohorts anchored around one low-effort shared activity at a time. 4 people, same group for 4 weeks, one simple thing we do together. The activity is just the excuse, the point is that by week four, you actually get to know each other.

Right now, our featured activity is cook-alongs: weekly ~45-minute video calls where each person cooks dinner in their own kitchen while we keep each other company. No class, no recipes, just real conversation while hands are busy cooking what you were going to cook anyway. $10 for the 4-week cohort, so everyone has some skin in the game and flaking doesn't ruin the experience.

Future cohorts will branch out: wind-down evenings groups, walk and talks groups, coffee co-working groups, and whatever else the community asks for. This group is the home base for all of it.
Who it's for: Austinites 25+ who are ready for the "friendly acquaintance to actual friend" conversion and willing to trade 45 minutes a week for four weeks to get there.

New cohorts open regularly — RSVP to join an upcoming group.
