About us
Come sit at the table. Have some coffee. Eat some cake. Talk about weird things.
Coffee, Cake & the Occult is an Austin gathering for curious people interested in exploring esoteric, occult, mystical, metaphysical, and related ideas.
There is no agenda and no hidden agenda.
We aren’t here to teach, preach, recruit, convince, or tell you what to believe. There are no lectures or required topics. Instead, we create a space where people can bring the things they’re curious about and have genuine conversations with other people who are interested in exploring them.
Maybe you’ve been studying Hermeticism. Maybe you’re fascinated by tarot, Kabbalah, Gnosticism, alchemy, ceremonial magic, mythology, paranormal experiences, consciousness, symbolism, or the history of occult traditions. Maybe you don’t know much about any of it but have questions.
All of that is welcome.
You don’t have to believe something to be interested in it, and you don’t have to agree with someone to have a worthwhile conversation.
What happens?
We meet once a month at a local Austin coffee shop, café, restaurant, or other casual gathering place. Grab a coffee, have some cake, meet some people, and see where the conversation goes.
The format is intentionally simple:
Come curious.
Bring your questions.
Share what you’re exploring.
Listen to other perspectives.
Have a good conversation.
We’ll help keep the conversation moving, make room for different voices, and gently redirect when necessary—but there is no presenter and no predetermined lesson.
A few ground rules
Curiosity over certainty. Questions are encouraged.
Disagreement is welcome. Challenge ideas, not people.
No required beliefs. Skeptic, believer, practitioner, student, or simply curious—you are welcome.
Share the conversation. Make room for other people to participate.
No sales pitches or recruiting. This is a community gathering, not a place to promote services, products, organizations, or personal practices.
Most importantly, there is no hidden curriculum. Coffee, cake, conversation, and community are the point.
Come join the table.
